Thank you for your patience and support during my transition from Lifeforce to my own practice, which includes both Big Island WellCare and Embody Medicine — two complementary programs that together form one healthcare ecosystem focused on prevention, partnership, and personalized care.
Over the past several months, I have continued caring for many patients while building the infrastructure, systems, and care models necessary to provide personalized, relationship-based medicine independently.
That transition is now complete. Effective immediately, the following care options and fee structure are in place.
My goal is to provide patients with flexibility while creating a sustainable framework that allows me to continue providing thoughtful, personalized care for years to come.

Our model is different.
Big Island WellCare and Embody Medicine work in tandem to provide both relationship-based primary care and deeper investigation into the factors that influence long-term health and well-being.
Big Island WellCare provides ongoing physician access, preventive care, wellness support, hormone optimization, thyroid optimization, prescription management, urgent care guidance, and continuity of care.
Embody Medicine provides advanced Functional, Integrative, and Precision Medicine services designed to help patients better understand the underlying factors influencing their health through advanced testing, genomics, microbiome analysis, environmental medicine, lifestyle medicine, and personalized health planning.
Together, these programs combine the best of Direct Primary Care and Root Cause Medicine to support prevention, longevity, vitality, and optimal health.
Rather than waiting for disease to develop, our goal is to help patients understand their health, address risk factors early, and create a personalized roadmap toward long-term wellness.

What membership does not cover.
We believe in being clear about what we are and what we are not. Membership is a primary care relationship — generous, attentive, and unhurried. It is not a replacement for the rest of the medical system.

Patients may participate in either program independently or use both together. Many patients choose membership for ongoing physician access while utilizing Embody Medicine for advanced testing and precision health planning.

BHRT or Functional Medicine Consultation
À la carte consultations are for patients who prefer occasional consultation rather than ongoing physician access. Prescription refills, lab review, follow-up discussions, new concerns, and ongoing guidance generally require either membership or a scheduled consultation.
Advanced Functional & Precision Medicine testing is separate from membership and is provided through Embody Medicine.
Many patients choose to pursue advanced testing beyond conventional blood work to gain deeper insight into genetics, hormones, nutrient status, microbiome health, environmental exposures, and long-term disease risk.
- Comprehensive Biomarker Panel (~55 biomarkers) — $300 — may be repeated every 3 months when clinically indicated. Whenever possible, testing is submitted through insurance; coverage cannot be guaranteed.

Multiple advanced tests may often be reviewed together during a single consultation. Follow-up consultations, refill requests, laboratory review, and ongoing care are scheduled separately for non-members.

Here's exactly what happens after you join. No mystery. No guessing.
Welcome.
You receive a welcome packet, access to the member portal, and a personal text from Dr. King. You'll schedule your first visit and complete intake forms at your own pace.
Your first visit.
Seventy-five minutes with Dr. King. We go through your complete history — medical, family, lifestyle. We order baseline labs, most of which we'll bill through your insurance. We don't rush.
Your lab review.
Forty-five minutes, in person or virtual. You walk out understanding what every number means and what it tells us about you. You leave with a written plan in plain language.
Settling in.
Follow-up visits as needed. A check-in with Dr. King to adjust your plan based on what's working. This is what primary care is supposed to feel like.
How this works with your insurance.
Your membership is not billed through insurance. It is a flat monthly fee paid directly to us. This is what lets us spend real time with you instead of fighting with insurance companies.
Your labs can be billed to your insurance, just like at any other doctor's office. We send you to the same Quest or Labcorp you've always used.
Your specialist visits, hospitalizations, surgeries, and emergency care all run through your regular insurance. Big Island WellCare doesn't replace your insurance. It works alongside it.
The Aloha Fund.
Big Island WellCare reserves ten percent of total membership capacity for community members on a reduced-rate plan. Membership at $89 per month, enrollment fee waived. No documentation required — only honest self-attestation.
We believe preventive primary care should not be a luxury. The Aloha Fund is how we live that belief. It is funded by the practice itself and by voluntary contributions from paying members who wish to support it.
